The Original Wise Guys! While the plight facing many of Father’s kids isn’t funny, this night of comedy sure will be! Join us on Friday, April 1 at 8pmwhen Bruno Schirripa will bring his ORIGINAL WISE GUYS stand up comedy production to The Palace Theater in Eastwood to benefit Father Champlin’s Guardian Angel Society. The show will consist of 3 comedians that Bruno refers to as “Original Wise Guys”: – Tom Anzalone from Pittsburgh, PA was the first comedian Schirripa met when working to open his first comedy night club in 1980. Tom lives in Syracuse and has worked every comedy venue that Bruno has produced a show in. – Moody McCarthy earned a slot in this show by being the first comedian to make it as a professional touring comedian from Wise Guys in Syracuse. Moody lives in NYC and has appeared on The Tonight Show, Late Night, Last Comic Standing and AGT. He continues to tour and comes to Syracuse to perform and visit his family. – Jim Dailakis was sponsored into the country from his native Australia by Schirripa and performed his first show in the U.S. at Wise Guys in Syracuse. He continues to tour internationally as well as filling roles in several motion pictures. This Greek Australian has a strong following in Syracuse and calls it his America Home Town.

Date: 3/1/2016 Submitted by: Paul Loman Subject: Joshua Strikes Back benefit for Joshua Hildreth
Joshua Hildreth and his wife, Jennifer Loman Hildreth ( former longtime Lyncourt and St. Daniel member) are fighting a battle against Joshua’s cancer. (Joshua is the son-in-law of Paul and Christine Loman.) Cancer has consumed Joshua and his family since 2011. He was first diagnosed with Testicular cancer, for which he was treated with surgery and chemotherapy. Within a few months he began to exhibit alarming symptoms and neuropathy (loss of feeling ). After several tests and scans, an inoperable brain tumor -Stage 4 Astrocytoma -was discovered in the brain stem, unrelated to his initial cancer. He underwent 6 consecutive weeks of chemo and radiation. And after a near fatal episode, he was out of work for months! Since then they have endured the roller coaster that Cancer puts you on: emotionally, physically, and mentally! He has been on and off chemo ever since. Josh is an amazing father of 4, who never let his illness define him, despite the deficits it left him with. He returned to work at Davis Ulmer Sprinkler Company, a job he is so dedicated to and loves. Unfortunately this past summer, his symptoms began to progress. Despite two different kinds of chemo and a 2nd trip to Sloan Kettering, the advances of the tumor has left his right arm and leg paralyzed completely, and a paralyzed vocal cord. He is now captive to a wheel chair and is facing the prospects of a feeding tube. A benefit is scheduled for March 20th at the Spinning Wheel Restaurant. Please come and join us in supporting him and his family. Tickets at the door or from those listed below. *For donations to our Gift Baskets &/or Silent Auction...please contact: Marianne Loman Fricke (sister in law) Jennifer Loman Hildreth (wife) Paul Loman 121 Longwood Drive 110 Cottage Grove Drive 517 Roxford Rd So East Syracuse, NY 13057 Minoa, NY 13116 Syracuse,N.Y. 13208 (315)372 – 6799 (315)559-5158 (315)436-8859 firstname.lastname@example.org@syrdiocese.org

Date: 2/23/2016 Submitted by: Cathy Cornue Subject: God Is Good VBS
God is Good VBS began in 2013 after Julia Johnson, and other Catholic educators, noticed a tremendous need for a sound Catholic, summer program, that created energy for children, so they could grow excited about their rich faith. Providing fun activities, yet being committed to Catholic education and forming our children's faith, is critical when considering Vacation Bible Schools. Our Catholic Vacation Bible School programs enrich our Catholic faith and engage children in Scripture. We embrace the richness of Church traditions and Scripture while praying, creating, singing and playing. Guidance from the Holy Spirit fosters children's love for Jesus as they participate in these wonderful opportunities! http://www.godisgoodvbs.com/
Date: 2/22/2016 Submitted by: Paul Welch Subject: Crosses to order
Catholic leaders, I will be ordering 100 small olive wood crosses from the Holy Land Handicraft Society in Bethlehem, Palestine. This cooperative consists of many of the remaining Christians in Palestine. I'll give the crosses to pantry volunteers. The cost is $2.20 per cross which includes shipping. They are a wonderful sign that Christians can constantly carry with them. Let me know if you have any interest in these crosses or other items from their catalogue http://www.hlhcs.org is the link to their catalogue. I'll send in an order this week. Confirmation and first Communion youth,as well as catechumens all would be inspired by a cross from the Holy Land. Paul
